2010 Staffing StructureBC recognises the necessity within modern performance sport, for professional leadership and support when seeking performance excellence at major sporting events.BC views such professional leadership as essential to the success of this performance plan and operational at a variety of organisational levels. An integral component of the amalgamation of the BCA and BWCA was the downsizing of the new BC Board to six directors, including the Chairperson. In a departure from the two previous curling organisations (BCA, BWCA), this Board comprises individuals appointed on a competency-based system. This new Board will also include an appointment at Board level of a professional Performance Director (PD), to give a professional lead to the implementation of the proposed performance plan, including management responsibility for all staff involved in performance delivery on behalf of BC.
This management responsibility includes three senior professional coaching appointments, to give a lead, (including technical lead), within men’s, women’s and wheelchair curling. All other performance support staff associated with this plan will also come under the PD’s line-management responsibilities. In addition, further coaching and performance support staff may be appointed for specific projects on a short-term basis. This may include British representative teams at: the World University Games and European Youth Olympics. It is envisaged that such short-term appointments would also come under the management responsibility of the Performance Director. |
