CRAIG WILSON
I started curling when I was ten, 25 years ago this year! I got into curling due to my Granny as she enjoyed her curling and enrolled me for the Saturday morning tuition classes at Lockerbie Ice Rink - it was probably prompted by my parents to get me out of the house on a Saturday morning!
Every Saturday my Granny delivered and collected me from the Ice Rink for a number of years and I was ever so proud that she was around to see me win the World Junior Championships when I was 20 years old.
I am married to Niki, who previously curled to a high level and was world Junior Ladies Champion in 1992.
We have two children, Georgia is four and Ava is two, again I was very proud that Georgia was in Italy when I won the European Championships in 2003 and she was at the Olympics with me in 2006 - albeit she only remembers Neve and Glitz the Olympic mascots!
I currently work as a Director in Treasury solutions for NabCapital, a division of National Australia Bank Group. On a day to day business this involves me managing a team and working with clients to build solutions to reduce or negate their business risk in key areas of commodity prices, foreign exchange and interest rate risk.
I am heavily indebted to my employers who over a number of years have been very supportive of my quest for success with my curling career.
Successes to date with curling include: Scottish Junior Champion 1993, 1994 World Junior Champion 1993, Scottish Champion 2003, 2005 2007, European Champion 2003, Bronze 2005, World Championship Silver 2005, Olympics 2006 - 4th. |
