British Curling’s Team Muirhead and Team Smith continue the latest leg of their Canadian campaign at the Masters of Curling in Lloydminster, Alberta which gets underway tomorrow (24-29 October).

The Team GB curlers selected to compete at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang will test themselves in the coming days in the highly competitive Canadian Slam environment, a challenge that skip Eve Muirhead relishes.

“Grand slam events have the best curling in the world taking place so it’s the best learning and preparation for major events you can get,” she said.

“To be heading back, knowing what we are capable of is great.”

Team Smith will also compete in a high class men’s field with a strong native line-up including Canadian World Champions Team Gushue, as well as a strong European contingent, led by former world champions Team Edin from Sweden who are also the current European Champions. They come into this event boosted by beating Scottish rink Team Stirling Gin to retain their Curling Masters of Champery title last weekend and will hope to repeat that success to defend their Slam title this week.

Skip Kyle Smith said: “We are looking forward to getting started after a disappointing weekend in Gatineau.

“It will be our last competition before the Europeans so we are looking to learn a lot this week and put in some solid team performances.
