Fowlers Set For World Mixed Doubles After Defending National Title

Posted on

Brother and sister partnership Ben and Anna Fowler will return to the World Mixed Doubles Championship in Canada next year after successfully defending their title at the
English Championship in Dumfries.

They put in an impressive performance, qualifying from the round-robin stages with a match to spare then defeating Andy and Jacqui Taylor 6-1 in the final to earn their place at the World Championships, which take place in Lethbridge from April 22-29, alongside Scottish champions Gina Aitken and Bruce Mouat.

The Fowlers finished in eighth place at last year’s World Championships in Sweden where Aitken and Mouat just missed out on a medal when they were beaten in the third place play-off.

Added focus is being placed on mixed doubles following its inclusion as an Olympic discipline for the next Winter Olympics in PyeongChang.
