Scotland’s Team Muirhead claimed two wins on the second day of action at the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships in St Gallen.

Beating Denmark 6-1 in a game where Scotland’s dominance never looked in doubt, skip Eve Muirhead said: “That was a very clinical performance, we made a lot of good shots and we didn’t really give them any chances in this game.

“We know these players and they are experienced shot makers so we could not afford to be complacent at all, but we all played really well.

“Getting two wins has put us on a bit of a roll and given us a confidence boost and we will carry that into another two game day tomorrow”, she said.

Earlier in the day Team Muirhead took defending champions Russia to an extra end before they registered their first victory of the tournament.

It was the second match of the tournament for the Scots, who bounced back from Saturday’s loss to last year’s European silver medallists Sweden to defeat the Russians in a match that went to an extra end.

Tomorrow both teams have a two game day, Team Smith will meet Germany (at 7.00am GMT) and then Slovakia (3.00pm GMT) and Team Muirhead play Italy (at 11.00am GMT) and then Germany (7.00pm GMT).
