National champions Team Morrison and Team Farmer form the British contingent back in action this weekend at the Women’s Masters in Basel which gets underway tomorrow (23-25 September).

The high quality international line-up includes the host nation’s World Champions Team Tirinzoni and will provide the British teams with an opportunity to assess the work they have done since the Oslo Cup at the beginning of this month.

“We are really excited to be here this weekend in Basel. We come here every year and it is a really well run event. We didn’t have the start we hoped for results-wise at ESS and Oslo but we are building every day and every week in training so we hope we can build on our performances this weekend in Basel,” said Rebecca Morrison, who leads Gina Aitken, Sophie Sinclair and Sophie Jackson onto the ice.

“There is a really good field here with 20 teams in the line-up so it is amazing to see such a big event here in Europe, close to home and we know we are going to get some really good competition.

“We are playing Teams Wrana and Jaeggi whom we played against in Oslo and had some good games with, so we are hoping to establish ourselves as a good team here as this is our last event in Europe before we head off to Canada for our big block of the season out there.

“Our goals this weekend are to get some good wins which would be a good confidence boost before we head across the Atlantic.”

It is a similar challenge for the newly formed quintet of Beth Farmer, Hailey Duff, Kirstin Bousie, Amy MacDonald and Katie McMillan.

“We are looking forward to this weekend – hoping to build on ESS and Oslo and put a few more things into practice that have come up over the last few weeks,” said skip Beth Farmer.

“We have not had too long in between competitions which is good to try and roll things together just trying to get better together and keep the dynamics going.”
