After a comfortable 9-4 defeat of Brazil wrapped up their round-robin campaign at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Korea, Team GB immediately switched their focus to the different challenge of the knockout stages.

While four of their five play-off rivals were battling for places in the last four, however, Logan Carson, Tia Laurie, Archie Hyslop and Holly Burke had a brief opportunity to relax and weigh up the opposition, their first place finish in their pool having earned them, along with China, an automatic spot in the semi-finals.

In finishing with a record of six wins and just a single loss, they finished off powerfully, controlling their match against Brazil throughout as they steadily built their lead and skip Carson was highly satisfied with the way they performed.

"It's easy to lose focus when you're already top qualifier, but we managed everything well and dominated the game," he said.

"It's a great feeling to finish as top qualifier and now we can focus on getting to the final tomorrow.

"Missing out on the qualification round is one less game we have to play and we know that we are up against tough opposition in the semi-finals, but I feel we're ready for the challenge.

"If we keep playing how we've played so far, then we're a match for anyone in the tournament."

The semi-final will see a re-match of Team GB’s round-robin meeting with Switzerland, skipped by Nathan Dryburgh, a member of a notable Scottish curling dynasty, his uncle James having met his wife while they were competing for Great Britain and Sweden respectively at the 1998 Olympics. Their daughter Moa is also now a leading international player, competing for Sweden.
