As part of its ‘Time to Deliver…Push Yourself’ campaign, British Curling is staging its first English-based Paralympic TryCurling Recruitment Day next month.
As part of British Curling’s increasing the game to expand participation in the sport throughout the UK, the event will take place at the Flower Bowl in Preston on Wednesday 21th February.
All wheelchair users aged 16 or over from across the UK are invited to take part in the on-ice opportunity, working with British Curling and England Wheelchair Curling staff.
The first English based performance pathway event of its kind organised by British Curling Paralympic Pathway Manager Cheryl Lappin, is supported by our partners at UK Sport, the British Paralympic Association, English Curling Association, England Wheelchair Curling Squad and Preston Wheelchair Curling Club.
“We are extremely pleased to launch our first English Based Recruitment day as part of our wider Paralympic campaign,” said Lappin.
“We are keen to provide an on-ice opportunity for individuals based South of the border and across Wales and Northern Ireland, to explore their potential in the sport of wheelchair curling, and work alongside our performance staff, athletes and support networks.
“We welcome any wheelchair users aged 16 or over to register their interest.
“No previous experience is required, only a drive to be committed, passionate and develop their talent within the sport of Wheelchair Curling.
“Our recruitment day will be followed up with signposting to links with Wheelchair Curling Clubs across the UK and for those who show talent there is an opportunity to progress onto the next stage of the British Curling Paralympic Performance Pathway, so I would urge any wheelchair user who has an interest in competing at the highest level to get in touch.”
